Sangeet Di Raat 8:00 PM

Pool side at Chimney Heights Resort, Zirakpur (outskirts of Chandigarh)

The Sangeet Di Raat is the pre wedding celebration with lots of music, dance, drinks and dinner. There will be a DJ and a dhol team (Punjabi drums) and the bride and the groom’s family and friends will prepare some traditional punjabi and bollywood dances. After that it will be time for everyone to go crazy on the dance floor.

Day2: Friday 18th March 2011

Departure of Baraat 10:00 am

House No. 4, Sector 8-A Chandigarh

The male guests are encouraged to wear matching maroon turbans. We will provide the turbans so anyone who wants to wear one should arrive by 9:30 am. If you are interested please let us know so that we have an accurate count of how many to get.

Breakfast 10:30 am

Gurdwara Sahib (Sikh temple) Sector 8-C Chandigarh

Anand Karaj 11:00 am

Gurdwara Sahib (Sikh temple) Sector 8-C Chandigarh

Anand Karaj is the religious wedding ceremony and will take place at the Sikh temple located half a mile down the road from Aman’s home. Everyone is expected to cover their heads inside the temple so please bring a scarf along. For men wearing turbans and women wearing Indian clothes no scarf is required.

Lunch 1:00 pm

Apsara Resorts, Zirakpur (outskirts of Chandigarh)

Doli 4:00 pm

Doli is the formal departure of the bride and the groom from the wedding venue to the groom’s house. Since traditionally this was the first time the bride was leaving her parents home, it is supposed to be a very emotional moment for her and her family.

Simar is pretty confident she won’t cry. We will see…

Day 3: Saturday 19th March 2011

Wedding Reception 8 pm

Pool Side, Chimney Heights Resort, Zirakpur (outskirts of Chandigarh)

Cutting of cake followed by dinner reception and ofcourse lots of dancing!
